Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we focus on methods for generating clone images of handwritten characters resembling a target writer's actual handwriting, which we call handwritten character clones or HCC. In HCC generation, not a single HCC but its distribution should be created for each character because humans' actual handwritings differ from each other even if the same writer writes the same character. To this end, a lot of actual handwriting images of the target writer are generally required for each character. However, it is difficult to collect such an image set. Hence, we only assume an incomplete seed character set, which consists of at most one or no example of the target writer's actual handwritings per character, and propose a HCC generation method that can generate different images of the same character based on the incomplete seed character set. In the proposed method, we achieve this task using collaborative filtering. Our experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, especially in the case of using user-based collaborative filtering. |
