Pattern Formation in Three-dimensional Information Processing Model Based on Excitable Medium

Abstract(in English) We consider three-state cellular automata on face-centered cubic lattice as information processing system based on excitable media. We found propagating patterns called type-I and type-II glider and three kinds of extending arm and the necessary and sufficient rules for them. We also found the cuboctahedron-shaped trigger wave caused by the external stimulation and its rules. Type-I glider can coexist with two kinds of extending arms and type-II glider with one kind. There are three single-cell patterns called eater that erase type-I glider and remain unchanged after the collision with the glider. And there is one eater in type-II glider. By finding more patterns, it might be possible to make information processing system on excitable media.
