A Study of Fast Image Matching Method Under Translation, Scale and Rotation

Abstract(in English) This paper presents a fast pattern matching method which covers image translation, rotation and scaling. Pattern matching methods based on image correlation are employed in the applications which require high identification accuracy such as biometrics, artifact-metrics, etc. Basically, these approaches require repeated correlation calculations in order to correct geometric changes between image pairs that cannot be avoided in taking them. The amount of calculations is too large to identify or authenticate individuals from large-scale database. Addressing this problem, we propose a fast image matching method under translation, scale and rotation. In this paper, the proposed method is applied to individual identification of industrial products. The experimental results show that the proposed method enables us to identify individuals of 11,571 uniformly-painted plates with no error and its processing time of 1 vs 11,571 matching is around 0.83 seconds on a standard desktop computer.
