Study on Wireless Mobile Fronthaul to Reduce Number of Optical Fibers

Abstract(in English) The Centralized radio access network (C-RAN) divides a mobile base station into distributed unit (DU) including the antenna section and a central unit (CU) including a MAC layer, a RLC layer, and a PDCP layer processings. The link between the DU and the CU is called mobile frouthanl (MFH). With increasing the number of mobile base stations year by year, the number of optical fibers for constructing the MFH also continues to increase. Reduction of the number of optical fibers constituting the MFH link is an urgent issue. In this paper, we consider a method of constructing MFH link by using wireless multihop forwarding technique. We propose a path design method of wireless multihop network which minimizes the total length of optical fiber in MFH.
