Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is sometimes difficult to understand author’s intention from the text. The objective of this research is to support users to organize the contents in the text and derive its intention. A text consists of chapters, a chapter consists of paragraphs, and a paragraph is a set of sentences. According to this structure, we propose a hierarchical reading model. The hierarchical reading model is a step-by-step reading model in which the text is understood from the bottom layer to the top layer by propagating derived intention to its upper layer. Then, we have developed the reading support system based on this hierarchical reading model. This system consists of layered concept maps and intention node of the lower layer is set automatically as a node of the upper layer. It also has the function to recommend candidate node to be a intention node. According to the experimental result, our reading model and support system are effective for users who can organize concept map according to the logical relation between sentences.
