Abstract(in English) | An optical transport network is composed of nationwide distributed transport systems deployed in thousands of office-buildings. As a common infrastructure to accommodate diversified communication services with drastic traffic growth, it is required to continuously convey growing traffic and achieve high communication quality and availability, while suppressing procurement and operation costs. Due to interconnection difficulty in WDM layer, the nationwide network is composed of multiple domains by system-vendors, and the systems in each domain are designed on the basis of proprietary specifications, implementations, and managed objects of individual vendor. Recently differences in the implementations or applied devices become smaller, some organization start trials to disaggregate a system to individual function blocks, design specifications for interconnection to achieve procurement cost reduction and flexibility of network structure. This paper discusses the usage of disaggregation trends in the nationwide optical transport network. It defines disaggregation levels of the systems in terms of data forwarding plane and management planes. It also discusses technology development priorities and steps, from the viewpoints of the balance between merits and technical difficulties in system disaggregation. |
