Abstract(in English) | The advent of the Internet of Things has permitted the emergence of numerous technologies, such as baby monitoring systems, that improve the quality of life of human beings. Existing baby monitoring systems advantageously provide video and audio information to parents about the situation of their infants who are located in distant places. Their disadvantage is that parents have to continuously monitor the system in order to detect an event. In this paper, we aim to reduce the burden of monitoring by proposing a machine learning-based baby monitoring system that can detect the event ‘infant crying’ and alert the parents. We used Support Vector Machine for the event detection and a low-load video streaming to allow monitoring through a smartphone application. We implemented our system on Raspberry Pi and tested it on a real environment. The preliminary evaluation demonstrates its usefulness. |
