Abstract(in English) Horizontal slot waveguides formed by thin film deposition have the feature of strongly confining light in the lower refractive index region in the thickness direction. We proposed a horizontal slot waveguide using oxide dielectric of Nb2O5 that has narrow air gap in a part of core layer and considered sensor application. In this paper, We analysis of the TM mode for effective refractive index in change of materials on upper cladding and air gap. In addition to this, the relationship between effective refractive index and structure parameter of the horizontal slot waveguide is evaluated.
