Adaptive Viscoelasticity Control in Remote Control System

Abstract(in English) In this report, we propose adaptive viscoelasticity control which dynamically changes the viscosity and elasticity coe?cients according to the network delay and operating velocity for a remote control system in which a user operates a haptic interface device at a remote place by using another haptic interface device while watching video. First, we obtain the optimum viscosity coe?cient for several elasticity coe?cients, operating velocities, and network delays by Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment. Next, we get an equation which derives the optimum viscosity coe?cient from the elasticity coe?cient, operating velocity, and network delay by multiple regression analysis. The adaptive viscoelasticity control uses the derived equation in combination with the estimated equation of the optimum elastic coe?cient previously obtained by the authors. Then, we demonstrate the e?ect of the adaptive viscoelasticity control by QoE assessment.
