Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Research and development of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and automatic driving technologies have been conducted all over the world. Millimeter-wave FMCW(Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar can simultaneously detect the distance and the relative moving speed of the target, and has better detection performance in dark or harsh glare environments, and rainy or foggy weather compared with other sensors such as camera and LiDAR (Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging). However, as automotive radars are expected to be equipped in a huge number of cars in near future, inter-radar interference will be a significant problem since inter-radar interference can cause miss-detection and/or false detection of the target. As millimeter-wave automotive radar is not standardized at this moment, FMCW radars with various chirp-rates and chirp durations will be used. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate co-channel interference among FMCW radars using various design parameters such as chirp rate. This report describes analysis and simulation results of co-channel interference among FMCW radars using different chirp rates and it reveals the relationship between chirp rate and SNR degradation caused by inter-radar interference. Furthermore, this report describes frequency sharing issues of FMCW radars.
