Abstract(in English) | Identifying influential nodes in social networks is one of the important research topics in the field of network science. Although various methods have been proposed for identifying influential nodes, studies for the comprehensive evaluation of the various methods have been still limited. In this paper, we evaluate the effectiveness of methods for identifying influential nodes by investigating the actual influence of the identified nodes. Actual influence is obtained from the history of information diffusion on social networks. Our results show that the methods based on Collective Influence (CI), degree centrality, and k-core index are relatively effective. Moreover, we analyze the difference among influential nodes identified with the methods by analyzing the correlations of the noderankings obtained by them. Consequently, we show that the correlations between the node ranking based on CI and the rankings based on other methods are low, which indicates that influence estimation based on CI is greatly different from estimation based on other methods. |
