Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When we make decisions, it is necessary to consider the time to receive rewards. Time preference is the current relative valuation placed on acquiring immediate over delayed rewards. The temporal discounting rate is used as a personal trait-like indicator in this situation. It is also known to change depending on individual state. There are many findings that the temporal discounting rate rises when people have a positive emotion. The influence on neural representation related to time preference due to positive emotion, however, has not been elucidated. We measured brain activity with fMRI undergoing temporal discounting task under positive priming and conducted a multi voxel pattern analysis. Our results revealed the existence of a brain region directly coding delayed and immediate reward. Moreover, we could confirm the effect of positive emotion on brain areas related to temporal discounting.
