Variability and Difference of Thermal Time Constants in Human and Rat

Abstract(in English) In the international guidelines/standards, the specific absorption rate (SAR) averaged over 10 g of tissue is used as a metric for human protection from localized exposure. The limit was defined by extrapolating the threshold obtained in animal experiments to humans. Further evaluation examining the temperature elevation in animals and human is required for local microwave exposure. However, there is a lack of studies comparing the temperature elevation of humans and animals concerning local exposure. In the present study, we use a multiphysics computation of the thermophysiological regulation to investigate the thermal time constant of the human head by different dipole antenna exposures. Also, we compared the exposure conditions in the human head with rats.
