Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Recently, data center traffic has dramatically increased due to the continuous growth of cloud services and mobile services. To efficiently accommodate the huge data center traffic, the speed of optical interconnections must continue to increase toward beyond 100Gb/s. In IEEE 802.3bs, 400GbE standard has been actively discussed and the promising candidates for optical transmission are 100-Gb/s 4-level pulse amplitude modulation (PAM4) signals with four parallel single mode fibers (PSM4) less than 500 m (: 400GBASE-PSM4/DR4). However, introducing PSM4 couldn’t dramatically improve spatial efficiency although it is significant for data center cabling. For further increase of the system capacity and spatial efficiency simultaneously, space-division multiplexing (SDM) fiber has been investigated recently. In this work, aiming to migrate PSM4 to MCF, 56-Gbaud PAM4 signal transmission over a 2-km 125-um -cladding 5-core MCF [4] is demonstrated. We show the feasibility of single wavelength and single fiber 400-Gb/s transmission using 4 cores in 125-um cladding MCF without PSM4 unlike 400GBASE-PSM4/DR4. In addition, 1.6-Tb/s transmissions over O-band or C/L-band are also demonstrated by combining wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) such as LAN-WDM and CWDM with the SDM. |
