A Video Bitrate Control Method Based on Queue Length of Terminals and Bandwidth Estimation for Home Network

Abstract(in English) In recently, it is focused on adaptive streaming technology that can dynamically change video bitrate according to network conditions. To use network throughput by the technology, Abuteir et al. calculated the required bandwidth to play videos on all terminals in a network and proposed a bitrate assignment control method, but cannot assign appropriate bitrate to each ter-minal. Then, the authors proposed a bitrate control method based on the queue length of multiple terminals playing videos from adaptive streaming with different processing power in home networks. Although the method can increase the video bi-trate as high as possible, but since it also decreases the bitrate after short time, it cannot provide stable bitrate. In order to im-prove this problem, this paper proposes a new bitrate control method based on bandwidth estimation in addition to queue length of terminals. Simulation results show that the proposed method improves the stability of video streaming.
