Investigating influences of delivery method switching procedures on Pub/Sub infrastructure utilizing SDN

Abstract(in English) Topic-based Pub/Sub communication model is widely used in SNS and IoT. SAPS(SDN Aware Pub/Sub) was proposed as a distributed message delivery infrastructure for efficient traffic handling among brokers. SAPS uses two types of multicasts, ALM(Application Layer Multicast) and OFM (OpenFlow Multicast) which complements each other. Since the entire system performance of the prototype system has not been examined, it is not possible to grasp the substantial bottleneck. In this paper, the performance of each module in the prototype implementation was investigated. Two types of switching approach of multicast method were implemented in SAPS, one was an approach to change multicast method from ALM to OFM at once which is called EITHER method and the other approach was gradually switching for reducing the load of each devices which is called BOTH method. In both methods, member management and processing methods are different, and therefore we compared and evaluated the influence to the performance.
