Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present IoTorch, a fast and reliable LED-to-camera communication for smartphones. LED-to-camera communication allows intuitive data transfer by simply holding a smartphone's camera over an LED. This communication also allows low-cost and small-size implementation owing to the use of small LED. However, in communication using the rolling shutter effect, packet losses due to inter-frame gaps and frame drops make it unsuitable for large data transfer. IoTorch consists of two core mechanisms: 1) a packet retransmission strategy focusing on periodicity of inter-frame gaps, and 2) an ACK mechanism against frame drops using a smartphone's built-in flash focusing on its delay characteristic. The experimental results using multiple smartphone models show that IoTorch can enable fast and reliable communication exceeding 1~kbps regardless of the models.
