Abstract(in English) A wavelength selective switch (WSS) is an optical device for routing the wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signal to any of outputs. A ROADM (reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer) can be configured with the WSS and it can route the light signal without optical/electronic conversion. Therefore, it can reduce the power consumption and get high throughput at the network node. The integrated WSS with silicon waveguide is compact and can be mass-produced by COMS plant, however the conventional silicon WSS had large loss and crosstalk due to many waveguide crossings. In this paper, we propose and fabricate the wavefront control type WSS which has no waveguide crossings, and the fold-back type WSS which has reduced number of waveguide crossings.
