Investigation of Mobile Data Offloading Method Based on Handover Control Considering Delay Tolerance

Abstract(in English) In recent years, the demand for mobile data communication has increased due to rapid popularization of smartphones and IoT devices, and it is a task to improve traffic accommodation efficiency. In mobile data communication, delay tolerance differs for each data such as moving image viewing that cannot tolerate delays communicated by smartphones, sensor data that can tolerate delays communicated by IoT devices, and the like. In this paper, we propose handover control for load balancing among base stations focusing on delay tolerance for each terminal in order to improve the accommodation efficiency of traffic, and evaluated the performance using computer simulation. As a result of the evaluation, the average transmission amount of users without delay tolerance can be improved about twice as compared with the case without offloading.
