| 抄録(和) | 表情は，感情を伝えるための主要な手掛かりである．しかし我々は，たとえ特定の感情が伴わずとも，意図的に表情を作り出すことができる．このとき，目は口に比べ意図的に操作することが難しく，より本当の感情が表れやすいとされている．そして，日本人とアメリカ人を比較したとき，日本人はアメリカ人に比べ，この本当の感情が表れやすい目を重視して感情を読み取ることが示されている．本研究では，文化的自己観と，目や口を重視して感情を読み取る傾向との関連を検討した．その結果，文化的自己観は，常に目や口を重視するような傾向ではなく，特定の感情を特定の手掛かりから読み取る傾向に影響している可能性が示唆された． |
| 抄録(英) | Facial expressions provide primary cues for emotions. We are capable of making some facial expressions deliberately, even if we do not feel a particular emotion. However, genuine emotion can be revealed in the eyes, because the eyes are more difficult to control than the mouth. It has been suggested that Japanese people observe the eyes more than the mouth to recognize emotions, as compared to Americans. This study investigates the relationship between the cultural view of the self and the tendency to recognize emotions through eyes or mouth. Results revealed that the cultural view of the self may affect the tendency to observe the eyes or mouth to recognize specific emotions, rather than there being a general tendency to look for such cues. |
