A Study of Living Environment and Regional Brands in the Seto Inland Sea Islands Brands

Abstract(in English) The author is conducting research on fostering the local living environment and regional brands with the aim of thinking about the methodology of promoting wide area brand strategy by the Japanese version of DMOs. In this research, as the first step, it will examine how the large environment change by the opening of the Shimanami Kaido in the area of Seto Inland Sea and islands affected to the living environment and inhabitant consciousness of the local people, based on the research which was conducted before the bridge construction and after 6 to 7 years of the construction. At the same time, we will consider the living environment index and describe future issues. Furthermore, because the year 2019 is the 20th anniversary of Shimanami Kaido, we are planning to investigate the target area newly. Therefore, we will organize the tasks for the research.
