Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors investigated what kind of clues the visually impaired perceives an atmosphere of a place. As a result, it was revealed that voice tone, interval of conversation, pitch of voice, talking speed were important clues to perceive the atmosphere. As non-verbal information, door opening and closing sounds, sounds of turning the page, interpersonal distance, and so on were also used. The results suggest that the visually impaired compares his/her imagination based on the atmospheric prototype in their brain built from experience to the actual environment when he/she perceives the atmosphere.
