Bristol Stool Scale Classification of Falling Simulated Stool from Spatio-Temporal Image

Abstract(in English) The shape and hardness of stools reflect the health condition in the intestine. The Bristol Stool Scale is an index to classify into 7 types according to the shape and hardness of the defecation. However, it is difficult for individuals to properly evaluate the status of stools using the Bristol Stool Scale. In this study, we propose a method to classify stool properties by image processing. In this paper, we shoot falling simulated stools and generate spatio-temporal images. And we extract features from binary images of spatio-temporal images and classify them using the Support Vector Machine. As a result of the accuracy evaluation experiment using the proposed method, F-measure of 0.86 could be obtained as estimation accuracy, and the effectiveness of this method was confirmed.
