Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) When the desorption mechanism of N poisoning (Nad) produced by ammonia oxidation was measured by normal pulse voltammetry, it was suspected that the accurate extraction of ammonia oxidation current was hindered by the change on solution resistance and electric double layer capacitance (EDLC) in the presence of ammonia. In this study, the effects of the coexistence of ammonia on the solution resistance and EDLC were investigated by electrochemical impedance measurements and cyclic voltammetry, and the kinetic analysis of the elimination process of the Nad was performed for an Ir/MWCNT catalyst using accurate ammonia oxidation current. It was clarified that the solution resistance decreases consistently with the concentration of ammonia. The amount of charge derived from EDLC, which was estimated by the integration of cyclic voltammogram in 0.1 M KOH-0.1 M NH3, was 47% as low as that in 0.1 M KOH. The result of normal pulse voltammetry indicated that the desorption of the Nad occurs within about one second when the potential below 0.4 V vs. RHE was applied, and that the amount of Nad desorption increased with decreasing applied potentials.
