Abstract(in English) We have been studying optical waveguide devices loading FLC (Ferro-electric liquid crystal). Ferro-electric liquid crystal is an attractive material for optical switches because it has a relatively rapid response time, and bistability that dose not require state-sustaining voltage. In our previous work, we reported 2×2 optical switches based on a MZI (Mach-Zehnder interferometer). In the present paper, we report the theoretical characteristics and fabrication process of FLC loading MZI optical switching devices with using Nb2O5-waveguides, and evaluation of the prototype Nb2O5-waveguide.
