Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Next Generation Hotspot (NGH), based on the specification known as Hotspot 2.0 and Passpoint, is being adopted for the purposes of improving the security of Public Wireless LAN and providing a high usability comparable with mobile phones. In the past few years, the Passpoint has been adopted in some services mainly in the north America. However, the advantageous properties of the NGH have not been utilized so well. In Japan, the author and some people have organized ``NGH Special Interest Group (NGHSIG)'' in 2017 and begun some information exchange and technical supports to push NGH forward as well as developing an identity federation testbed system. The NGHSIG has participated in the City Wi-Fi Roaming trial in 2017 as the first organization in Japan. We have not only realized an NGH international roaming in the nation but also developed a new identity federation architecture for inter-connecting some roaming systems. Especially, we have developed some techniques for enabling eduroam, the roaming system for research and education institutions, on the NGH infrastructure. We have developed a roaming system that enables secure roaming on the City Wi-Fi systems world-wide by using eduroam accounts, and confirmed its effectiveness in some demonstration experiments.
