[Poster Presentation] Development of the wavefront matching method for 3-D waveguide discontinuity problem and its application to Si-wire waveguide devices

Abstract(in English) The wavefront matching method based on the three-dimensional finite-element method for waveguide discontinuity problem is newly developed. The developed method can implement the optimization of arbitrary shaped high-index-contrast optical devices with waveguide discontinuities. The developed method can also consider the vertical waveguide structure. We designed ultrasmall silicon mode converters (TE0-TE1 and TE0-TE2) to confirm the validity of the developed method. Low loss and compact waveguide structure was obtained automatically.
