Characteristic analysis for mean packet delay of DR-MPCP considering window size

Abstract(in English) In the optical access network, EPON has become widespread. For uplink communication of EPON, communication is reserved by polling from ONU to OLT using MPCP. In order to reduce the mean packet delay time of its uplink communication, a method of delaying the transmission timing of the REPORT message in the MPCP (DR-MPCP:Delayed Report messages-MPCP) has been proposed. However, this scheme can not limit the transmission window size of each ONU (gated service). In the real network, the transmission window size should be limited for the fairness of each ONU (limited service). In this paper, we derive the theoretical expression of the mean packet delay time using the queuing theory M/G/1 model. Moreover, we analyze the characteristic of mean packet delay.
