Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Blind people depend on only audio feedback when they use touch interfaces such as smartphones. To explore the optimal touchscreen device size for blind people from the viewpoint of the icon search, we conducted an experiment in which blind participants searched for the target icons with four different-sized touchscreen devices. We analyzed the search time, search strategies and subjective evaluations. As a result, devices with a screen size of 4.7 inches had the shortest search time and obtained the highest subjective evaluation among the four devices. This finding was observed both in smartphone users and non-users.
