Maximization of power transmission efficiency of coupler considering element loss in impedance matching circuit

Abstract(in English) In wireless power transmission systems, transmission efficiency is one of important parameters. Therefore, improvement of the power transmission efficiency of the coupler have been studied intensively in recent years. In considering the power efficiency of the coupler, ηmax of the coupler is usually used. ηmax represents the efficiency when we employ a high-frequency power source and a load having optimum impedance for coupler. Matching circuits are necesary to match the impedance. However, matching circuits also have losses. Therefore, in this study, we propose a design method of couplers considering the efficiency of the matching circuits. Furthermore, we numerically estimate the effect by applying the method to a typical electric field coupler and a typical magnetic field coupler.
