Estimation and Visualization Method of Atmosphere Using Sound Information in Multipoint Distance Classroom

Abstract(in English) The purpose of this research is to estimate the atmosphere of remote students and to visualize the atmosphere for an instructor by using sound information in a multipoint distance classroom environment. In such distance classroom, it is often not possible to send sound from the remote students because it causes echo or howling problems or it is difficult to know who speaks in mixture sound from the multi participants. However, due to lack of such sound information, it becomes difficult for the instructor to grasp the atmosphere of the students. In order to solve these problems, this research aims to estimate "feeling of tension on class" and "motivation on class" from the sound information of the students. We are implementing a multipoint distance classroom environment using WebRTC, an API that realizes real-time communication between web-browsers, to monitor the sound information of the students to collect information related to the atmosphere and to consider a method to visualize the atmosphere.
