Evaluation of Radio Propagation of Gas Smart Meter in Apartments

Abstract(in English) Tokyo Gas is promoting technological development for the introduction of gas smart meters from FY-2018. Gas meters in apartments are often put in steel meter boxes called pipe shafts, and radio propagation in apartments is more difficult than in detached houses. Communication units (communication standard: U-Bus Air) and repeaters (communication standard: LTE cat-1) are being developed for gas smart meters. We evaluated the radio propagation of them in 146 apartments in TOKYO for the consideration of the construction design of gas smart meters. In this presentation, we report on the results and findings of radio propagation measurements of communication units and repeaters in apartments.
