Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we investigate the influence of user mobility in our previously proposed frequency block-dependent online probabilistic activation control of pico base stations (BSs) based on observed system throughput in heterogeneous networks. In the proposed method, the activation of each frequency block and the number of the activated frequency blocks in each pico-BS is controlled in probabilistic manner by using the iterative algorithm based on the time variation of the observed system throughput and activation states of that BS. By deactivating the signal transmission of unnecessary frequency blocks of pico-BSs for a given distribution of the BSs and users in a system coverage, the inter-cell interference is reduced resulting in an increase in system throughput. Based on the computer simulation considering the user mobility, we show that the performance of the proposed method is dependent on the update period of the activation control of pico-BSs. However, when we assume the pedestrian environment, it is shown that the update period of approximately 10~100 ms is sufficient to achieve most of the potential performance gain of the method. |
