Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | Standardization and/or R&D for 5G system is very active around the world targeting to start 3GPP compliant commercial service in the year 2020. Massive MIMO is a technology to create narrow beam(s). Then it can compensate propagation loss significantly experienced at higher frequency band and provide spatial multiplexing as known as multi-user MIMO. Therefore, Massive MIMO has gotten high attention as a critical technology for higher frequency band beyond 10GHz and very useful technology also for lower frequency band below 6GHz. Ericsson is actively performing 5G trials in Sweden, and in other countries with operators as respective joint trials using 15GHz and/or 28GHz frequency for PoC of beamforming, multi-user MIMO, distributed MIMO etc. This paper introduces some trial results obtained so far relevant with Massive MIMO from perspective of coverage, beam tracking, multipoint transmission and distributed MIMO performance. In addition to 5G trial, Ericsson has a road map called 5G Plug-in to introduce 5G concept into existing LTE system. In this presentation, we will introduce Ericsson’s activities on Massive MIMO system towards practical realization. |
