Compression-Friendly Reversible Data Hiding for Privacy Protection

Abstract(in English) Usually in the study of reversible data hiding for digital image, the evaluation criteria is the trade-off between payload and distortion. In this study, we add a new criterion for the evaluation. In general, digital image should be compressed at a storage because of its large file size. It is possible to reconstruct the original image if the embedding and compression operations are reversible. We investigate the new application of reversible data hiding for privacy protection of digital image by considering the trade-off among payload, distortion and entropy (compression ratio). The proposed method protects a privacy sensitive region by encryption while the increase in image entropy is well-controlled by reversible data hiding.
