Abstract(in English) | The brain has an unique waste clearance system, called glymphatic system, which is activated during sleep state. In order to know the mechanism of the state-dependency of the system, various methods were applied to measure diffusion property of brain parenchyma. However, the mechanism is still unknown due to the low time resolution of those methods. In this study, by using repetitive integrative optical imaging method, we measured the diffusion property of brain parenchyma in the primary somatosensory cortex of a mouse under the isoflurane anesthetized condition. As a result, we found that there is a drift of diffusion in brain parenchyma. In addition, we found weak correlation between variance of EEG and diffusion coefficient. These results suggest that directed cerebrospinal fluid flows in the brain and the diffusion property changes depending on the concentration of anesthesia. |
