Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Exploiting the virtual agent, IoT, and cloud technologies, we have been studying a dementia counseling system, with which a person with dementia can talk to the agent at any time at home. In order to develop active human-agent conversations, it is essential to find appropriate topics by understanding individual contexts and circumstances of the person with dementia. To help the system to identify such good topics, we propose a method that dynamically creates topics of counseling based on user's age and open data. Specifically, the proposed method first derives important years corresponding to key periods in his/her life stage. The method then obtains events and fashions occurred in the years, and uses them for topics in the human-agent dialogue. Introducing the events and fashions occurred in user's memorable years, themethod stimulates long-term memory of the user, and promotes active conversations. We also integrate the method with the system to see the feasibility of the interactions.
