Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Inspired by the brain's structure and function, hardware based on non-von Neumann architecture is rapidly being developed. Recent connectome analysis of brain networks has revealed that modular organization is predominantly observed in the nervous system of various species. However, it remains elusive whether the modular organization is necessary for the proper brain function or is a mere epiphenomenon. Here we study the functional consequence of modular organization using a computational model of spiking neuronal networks. We focus on the synchronous bursting activity within a modular network and investigate the network mechanism that entrains the sporadic activity of individual neurons.
