Design of coupler for high efficiency wireless power transfer under fresh water with electric coupling

Abstract(in English) This report describes a design method of the capacitive coupler achieving the high efficiency underwater wireless power transfer. First, we calculate the Q factor of fresh water by utilizing a dielectric constant, various electrical conductivities and an optimal frequency with maximal value of maximum available efficiency. Focusing on the calculated Q factor, we clarify the relationship between electrical conductivities and maximum available efficiency. Then, we describe the improvement method in coupling coefficient k. Finally, the maximum available efficiency of 80.2% is achieved at the transfer distance of 20 mm by using the fabricated coupler.
