Abstract(in English) | Visual prosthesis is a device that reproduces a lost vision by electrical stimulation to the visual nervous system via metal stimulation electrodes. Excessive stimulation current affects durability of the electrode. In this study, it was obtained that change in interface characteristics of stimulation electrode due to stimulation. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of active/inactive electrodes implanted into rabbit eyeball was performed, and the EIS result was evaluated by equivalent circuit analysis. Histological evaluation was also conducted, then, granulation tissue was observed around the both electrodes. As a result of equivalent circuit analysis, the electrochemical characteristics of the electrode were different between active and inactive electrode, and it was presumed that desorption of protein adsorbed on electrode surface of active electrode. |
