Simulation-based Digital Watermark Design for Two-dimensional Codes Displayed on Smartphones

Abstract(in English) In recent years, authentication using a two-dimensional code (2D code) has become widespread for a boarding pass of an airplane, an admission ticket for an event, online payments, and so on.However, 2D codes can be replicated easily by photographing using smartphones, there is concern that 2D codes will be replicated and used illegally.Therefore, in this study, we propose a method of automatic design of digital watermark that can detect replicated 2D codes displayed on smartphone screen. The proposed method introduces multi-objective optimization using optical simulation to evaluate robustness of watermark, and then requires only $2n$ smartphone devices only when calibration for n smartphone models, whereas the previous method required $2n^2$ devices during optimization.
