Abstract(in English) Multi-core fiber (MCF) and few-mode fiber have been studied intensively for use with space division multiplexing technique. An MCF with a 125 um-cladding diameter can be expected as the first application since we can easily employ the existing fabrication process including fiber, cabling and connecting technologies. We previously demonstrated single-mode MCFs using homogeneous 4-core with an extremely low inter-core crosstalk using the over-cladding bundled rods (OBR) technique. In this paper, we report a non-coupled 125 um-cladding 4-core fiber that supports 2LP modes by intentionally constructing the air-holes using the OBR technique for further increasing of the spatial density.
