Polymorph Selectivity of Pentyl-substituted Phthalocyanine in Thin-film Fabrication by Bar-coating Method

Abstract(in English) Uniaxially oriented thin film of the non-peripheral pentylsubstituted phthalocyanine (C5PcH2), which possesses two types crystal polymorphs, was fabricated by bar-coating method. When the thin film fabrication was carried out by using the seed crystals with different polymorphs as one of the fabricating conditions, the thin films with completely different characteristics were obtained. By taking the optical properties, surface morphologies, and X-ray diffraction patterns of the thin films into consideration, the crystal structures of the thin films was completely the same as those of seed crystals used in the bar-coating process, and the column axis of C5PcH2 in the thin films was parallel to the scanning direction of the coating bar. By using the seed crystals in the bar-coating process, the selective crystal growth in the C5PcH2 thin film fabrication was successfully realized.
