Placement Design of Wireless Base Stations in Indoor Environment Using Particle Swarm Optimization

Abstract(in English) In order to introduce wireless devices efficiently in indoor environment, we propose an placement optimization algorithm of base stations using PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization). We first describe a formulation of the placement optimization problem of the multi APs (Access Points) and a solution using PSO. We then show an indoor environment of 20 m $times$ 20 m which has three structures of boxes, and design the optimal placement of four APs. We show that the optimization is performed effectively by adjusting the APs placement in order to erases dead regions. Finally, we compare the simulated coverage with measured one. The coverage obtained from measurement is 97.9 % in contrast with the simulated coverage of 100 %, demonstrating the proposed optimization is beneficial for the efficient introduction of wireless devices.
