Parametric amplification characteristics in phase-sensitive/insensitive intermediate condition

Abstract(in English) Phase-sensitive amplification (PSA) is one kind of optical parametric amplification (OPA), which has unique properties such that the signal gain depends on incident light phases, the signal output phase is clamped, and the quantum-limited noise figure is 0 dB. The PSA operation is achieved when signal and idler lights are degenerate in optical parametric interactions. However, there can be a case where those two lights are partially degenerate for spectrally broadened light. This paper analyzes amplification characteristics in such a condition. OPA in partially degenerated conditions are formalized and calculated. The results quantitatively clarify intermediate properties between PSA and phase-insensitive amplification.
