Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The number of LTE frequency bands defined by 3GPP has been increasing to make more spectrum available for mobile network operations under various constraints of each country. In addition, new frequency bands such as millimeter wave spectrum will be added for future 5G mobile networks. Thus it is expected that the operating frequency bands in particular region will vary from country to country in 5G more than that in 4G. As a consequence, there may be mismatch between the operating frequency bands in the user location and the supported frequency bands of the terminal in case the terminal travels across multiple regions. Additionally, we expect that the 5G networks will be provided not only by countrywide mobile network operators (MNOs) but also by micro-operators which have localized coverage and provide location-specific vertical services. Therefore it is desirable that a user can utilize multiple frequency bands and services which are operated by multiple network operators, even if a single operator cannot offer sufficient frequency bands or services. In this poster we will present architectural considerations which enable roaming access from an UE to multiple network operators at the same time in existing 4G LTE networks or the future 5G networks from the viewpoint of a minimal impact to the standard modifications. Also, we will present considerations to integrate Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) techniques into the aforementioned multi-operator roaming access networks to provide e.g. low-latency services even in roaming environment with poor backhauling.
