Gamut-Extension Method Considering Color Information Restoration

Abstract(in English) In this paper, we use a color space conversion (also known as gamut mapping) method from BT.709 (used for current High Definition Television (HDTV) broadcast) to BT.2020 (used for Ultra HDTV (UHDTV) broadcast), restoring lost color information. Our method anisotropically diffuses BT.709 chromaticities respective to the direction of the original chromaticities in the BT.2020 color space. With this method and BT.709 images, we obtain BT.2020 images with chromaticities from the BT.709 color gamut.
