A study of ASK-PPM Optical Wireless Turbo-coded System

Abstract(in English) In optical wireless communication, because of the attenuation of light and the shadowing of the channel, partial erasure channel, which means failing to receive a part of transmitted light steams, may raise. As a system compatible with partial erasure channel, a new turbo coded ASK-PPM system is proposed. ASK-PPM is a modulation technique combining with amplitude-shift keying and binary pulse position system. The modulation scheme and symbol error rate are presented in this paper. The bit error rate performances of the proposed system is evaluated through computer simulation. Moreover, the bit error rate performance is compared with the conventional turbo coded binary pulse position modulation system. As results, in standard channel, the proposed system shows the same bit error rate performance as the conventional system. In partial erasure channel, the proposed system outperforms the conventional system far.
