Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This research clarifies the significance of accommodation error in image recognition in human vision. Actually, it switches switches the first image to the second image on the CRT monitor, and examines the relation between the second image’s presentation time and the recognition rate for the second image changing the viewing distance. Consequently, the following results are obtained: (1) there exists the minimum presentation time necessary for recognizing the second image; (2) the minimum presentation time changes depending on the difference in property between the two images; (3) the minimum presentation time for the two images inducing the different amounts of accommodation error becomes longer than that for the two images inducing the same amounts; (4) the difference between the two kinds of minimum presentation times is enlarged with a decrease in viewing distance. These results suggest that accommodation error influences image recognition in human vision, that is, adaptively changing accommodation error is essential for image recognition in human vision.
