Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In recent years, traffic accidents caused by a car driver getting sick are increasing. To prevent serious accident, it is required to continuously monitor the driver's health condition. Heartbeat is able to provide the information of health condition and warn a suspected heart diseases on continuously monitoring. In this study, we proposed a non-contact heartbeat sensing method available to car drivers in the presense of noise caused by vehicle swinging and body motion. The method detects the heartbeat by radiating a UWB (Ultra Wide Band) pulse to the human body, and detects reflected waves. A post-processing algorithm was applied to the reflected waves to remove these motion noises and extract heartbeat. To validate the proposed, we developed a diastole model and a systole model based on an anatomical human body model developed by National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, Japan(NICT), and employed FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) simulation for obtaining the reflected waves. As a result, we confirmed a difference on the reflected waves up to 40 radians between the diastole model and the systole model, which shows the feasibilty of detecting the heartbeat in the case that motion noises exist.
